Built From Earth !!

While for some people, the notion of eco-architecture may equate with houses covered with solar panels and equipped with triple glazing windows, there are a growing number of Wallmakers who reserve that term strictly for denoting natural building methods that utilise the raw materials of the earth.

Meet the Architects, Architect Saathvika and Architect Kaveri from Indore and Vadora respectively. They started in the pursuit to look at architecture in their own way and experiment with basic materials to create spaces that are true to the client’s requirement and their belief of what is good architecture.

The project started with a very basic requirement of  creating a homely space to visit every weekend and feel close to a traditional Indian home which is absent in the cities today. The first step was to create a 100 ft long compound wall of our triangular site ,along the main road (which is frequented by trucks, tempos).
The main idea was to make it an interesting element to catch the passer-bys attention in a subtle manner and also retain visibility to not make it stark, they came up with the pixelated design of the brick wall.

The modest second class brick was chosen keeping in mind the cost and overall feel of the house. They very approach of not doing the ordinary but yet using the basic materials was a source of inspiration from Architect Vinu Daniel under whom they trained to give back to the earth.
The rest of the house is still being constructed and has been conceived around the basic principles of a Indian house-namely, a courtyard, passive cooling techniques and a balance of indoor-outdoor spaces.

Like Vinu sir says, “Each brick resonates with music. These are my compositions in brick and mud!”

These are the architects you should look forward to making it to the headlines and changing the way architecture is percieved by the day.
